Just found this

A picture of my youngest (now twelve and surly ) having just found our first new laid egg.....she had checked the coop every morning for three weeks, hence the look of sheer satisfaction!

Ahh Bless. We stayed on a farm a couple of years ago that had pet hens running free and the kids were encouraged to try and find where they had laid the eggs. Every morning became quite a ritual watching kids searching for them and hearing the cheers as one was found.

Did you let her help you cook it and then eat it...or was it a shared eating event?

She got that one....she was only two or three and the egg was tiny....her sister wanted a proper full sized egg.

It's good to remember how cute they were now that we live in a house of slamming doors and 'IT'S NOT FAIR'.
