  • Vent Gleet????????????

Has anybody ever had a hen with vent gleet before. One of the girls has a creamy white discharge coming from her rear, dirty feathers around area and we have had a couple of reports of "off eggs".

Had a look on tinternet for some photos and it defo looks like vent gleet, any home cures out there you know of, read about epsom salts to wash effected area and to treat in water of infected bird.

I've never seen it either. Though I've read to treat it with thrush cream. Wash the bird well and dry thoroughly first.
Make sure your all the feeding bowls/drinkers are clean, feed is fresh and their water is clean.

One of mine had it and I used to wash her bottom with water when it got bad, trimmed her feathers etc but still always messy. Was planning on trying some iodine ( betadine) but she had a tendency to lay soft eggs and one broke half inside her. She died of egg peritonitis shortly after.Very sad but she wasn't a very nice bird unfortunately, quite vicious.
Certainly worth trying antifungals but I suspect difficult to irradiate completely .
