The commercial poultry industry vaccinate to cut down on fatalities and diseases that effect egg production, a farm vet probably would never be involved. if one bird caught a disease it could pass through the whole flock and decimate numbers (the egg producer where I got mine kepps 17000 and that is considered small)
Im not saying everyone should have their chickens vaccinated, just that mine being rescued from an egg producer were.

PS lisa well done for rescuing them - last time I checked spain was in the EU and battery farming was banned in 2012 so it looks like hes doing this illegally.
