If none of the above is useful, let me know. I use a VSB one. Wouldn't be without it...

I've always been worried that the door might close before they go in. Our banties are like naughty school kids - not wanting to go to bed until as late as possible

If you have a long enough piece of string, you can tie it to the henhouse door and run it all the way up through the bedroom window and tie it to the bedpost. A swift tug in the dawn light, and presto! you've opened the door from the comfort of the duvet!

I like the string idea but the OH sleeps in the back room and the door opens away from the bedroom window so to use the string idea I would have to construct a pulley system that would equal the difficuly of the pyramids

I have considered an automatic door. Like skeggijon I'm worried they wouldn't all be in bed. I do like to have a head count and make sure everyone is ok. Same in the morning I like to know everyone is happy and healthy. I would miss my morning chat with the girls. But it is very tempting when it's lashing it down and blowing a hoolie.

Its one thing to have an auto opening device but as you said when it closes at night you dont know if they are in or out. Chickens may stay out for various reason such as a mouse or rat in the shed etc.

I have Chuxaway and wouldn't be without it, generally there 2types. Light sensor or timer,, I went with the timer as I did hear the light sensors could operate when black rain cloulds are grathering and didn't want my trapped outside if it was raining

                      The timer one sounds good.

I don't want one that closes them in at night just a timer I can set for the morning.

                      As normal thank you all
