  • Eggs in the Winter

Do hens stop laying completely in the winter months? October onwards?
I don't intend to put in artificial light, just let them have a holiday if that's what they do.
However it would be good to have some eggs during the winter, are there any breeds who do lay throughout the year? Probably less in total than my hybrids but that's not a problem
I just know I'm going to get some more hens...

warrens slow downbut dont stop completly, exept if there shedding or just feeling that way out (you know what chooks are like) most hybrids will lay most of the year its just a lot slower, 1-3 a week.

Many thanks, if it's just a case of slowing down then between the three of them I should get something, say 3 - 6 a week.
I'll just have to go easy on the egg recipes till spring.
        Can't buy shop eggs now!
        best wishes
