My girls are out again. They are never going anywhere near my polytunnels again little thugs! But I am going to buy them there own tunnel because being out of the continues wet, cold weather did them a lot of good. Obviously it'll be there choose ( most of the time ) if they use it or not.

Can anyone help, please? I'm not a poultry owner myself, but our allotment site (tiny, though it is) is split 50/50 veg plots and hen pens.
Folk on the site have been told they have to keep their poultry inside until end of April. Why would that be, please? We're in Cumbria.
I'm just concerned as some of the hen pens don't have the best facilities and fellow plot-holders have talked about their birds being 'terribly unhappy'. Plus there's one pen which has apparently had theirs out for ages!
Confused and curious.

The restrictions vary depending on your location. Put the site's postcode on here Defra, UK - Animal health & welfare - Disease surveillance & control - Notifiable diseases - Avian Influenza - Interactive map and it will tell you what applies.

Wherever you live, it may be worth thinking about how to contain your birds if Avian Flu becomes a problem again.Last edited by veggiechicken; 12-01-2018, 07:14 PM.
