I let some of the chickens out for a 30 minute free range this evening. I've never seen any animal so happy as they were. There was some serious flapping of wings, some attempts at flying and a lot of exploring, especially in the hedges. I'd like to do that once a week until I get their bigger spot set up. I know it's against the rules but it was after the wild birds had settled for the evening and there haven't been any local cases of bird flu anyway.
