  • Me 2 - I've now got chickens

Have had the 'house' ready for a few days - a long journey to Banbury (Cotswold Chickens) and back again. We are now the proud owners of three hens, Ginger (Goldline), Pepper (Amber Star) and Cumin (Bluebell) (The spice girls - my pets names are always themed - flowers (female cats), trees (dog), herbs (male cat) now spices!)

The children chose them and they seem to have settled really well. All eating and pecking around in their run.

When the other pets are used to them being there I can then let them roam the garden freely.

    'Tis very exciting.

Thought my chooks would be condemned to staying in the run - it now looks like they are welcome guests in the garden and see off our kitten, Basil and even Hazel the dog (border collie cross) has stopped chasing them as much and is quite happy to leave them be!

The run is now for holiday use only! And we've only had them 10 days... oh for the first egg!

Hope your chooks start laying soon, witch! They look lovely - about twice the size of Basil at the mo, I would think!

PS Is it only me that thinks that Hazel is a bit of a daft name for a dog.........???.
