Im seriously thinking of investing in a walk in cage from omlet as they are very expensive can fellow members tell me of their experiences with them. I have had a MK1 cube for some yrs and is still in very good condition but after a fox attack my old wooden run has to be replaced.

hi. Yes they are expensive but you get peace of mind. My niece got one for same reasons as you and is very pleased with it. Omlet stuff holds its price very well and also comes up on Gumtree/ebay so worth looking on those sites. You will need to think about weather proofing it and where to put it and on what surface.
There are other companies who make wire cages which might be worth looking at.
I personally went for a 6ft 6in high pent shed and attached run with a wire floor after getting fed up with getting on hands and knees to get into my cube and then trying to deal with a hen under one arm and trying to get out of the run still with the hen - I'm sure I looked hilarious but was not amused! So a walk in shed and run is bliss as far as I am concerned! the shed part is on paving slabs and the run on earth with a weed proof membrane under the wire floor and sand on top - works ok altho the hens free range all day so don't use the run much - they prefer to shelter under the hedges! good luck.
