Hexham Fur and feather auction

Just a note for anyone in the area that there is a Fur and Feather Auction at Hexham Mart this coming Saturday. The auction Catalogue is at:-

Its normally a good day out and I may come back with a few Marans for deep brown eggs and cream legbars for blue eggs!

Bid for and won three 10 week old Cream Legbars for 30 squid. Two LF Lavendar Auracanas for 15 squid and a rather mottley specled Maran for 8 Squid.

The Auracanas and Maran were impulse buys and the Cream Legbars were planned.

For those who aren't familiar with the breeds I will add a few stock photos. I'll need to wait until they have settled in a bit before I can post piccies of the actual birds!

I was going to photograph them together in the dog crate but I needed to get them integrated with my flock as soon as possible as they were all cramped together.. (Did my flaming back in picking the cage up and carrying it)

Believe it or not all the ones I have just aquired are Large Fowl. The Cream Legbars are only 10 weeks old though. I have lots of Bantams as well of course.

Plenty of quail at the auction and loads of cheap pigeons (£5 for 6) but no partridges!
