Hens & verm x feed pellets

what are your thoughts about using this product,
I normaly have haygates layers pellets,but have had to use verm x when thats all there was,the farm shop i get from are possibly not getting anymore,as their supplier is messing around,i have been thinking of what's best for my girls,my understanding is verm x also has a wormer in it,and is better for them than the likes of haygates,if so i shall look for another supplyer,
I feel they need something just now,i also believe one of them is plucking feathers out the other 4,i poor soul is half oven ready,they is no mites or fleas,combes are healthy,the supprise the last few days is,they not eating the amount of greens usualy had,egg production seems as usual,apart from when i took the 2 short roost out,and put a new longer 1 in,i just want what is best for them,

I've never seen VermX layers pellets so can't comment.
My chooks have been moulting recently and 1 stopped laying completely. She started again yesterday
Just wondering whether 2 perches would be better so that they can get away from the aggressive one?

I would NOT recommend using Vermex all the time. It has a purging effect and the poor chooks would suffer.
I use it once a year and that's all. I either use Farmgate Layers pellets (Made locally at Hexham I think) or Lloyds layers pellets if i am pushed. Lloyds is cheap (excuse the pun) imported stuff with a high dust content.

You can of course feed on mixed corn alone, as long as you have grit accessible for there gizzard.

Just asked Mr Google and came back with

"Copdock Mill's Range Layers Pellets is a complete feed for poultry with the added benefit of the award winning Verm-X Herbal 'worming' Pellets"

There are similar mixes for Flubenvet (approved wormer) - Farmyard layers pellets with flubenvet premixed is one. Flbenvet is mixed with food for treatment, so the Farmyard pellets is just a premixed version.

In both instances, I would only use the feed to address the problem and revert to "standard rations" once treatment complete.

Press seem to give mixed reports on the Verm-X products, with most "vet" columns recommending a proper approved wormer for you live stock. I think Fluben vet is the only approved wormer for chickens whilst still allowing consumption of eggs.

If you can, it is likely to help. Remember 70% dropping are produced at night, so if they are placed like two runs on a ladder, leave enough clearance between them to keep lower birds clean. You should also expect a ruckus as they agree new night pecking order.
