Hello lovely people

In a moment of madness I ordered 10 bare root hostas from T&M.
I know nothing about hostas, so what's the best way to keep them alive when they arrive (if they're not already dead)?
The spot where i want to plant them on my plot isn't ready yet, so they'll have to overwinter in pots somewhere.

Any tips much appreciated!

Pot them up and give them a little protection from the rain. It’s being too wet that will kill them, that with the cold, not a good mix.

Thanks Roitelet... i thought they were wet soil lovers? Usually recommended as bog garden plants?

Yes they are but in pots overwinter you run the risk of rot. In the ground they are usually fine.

Use pots well bigger than the roots. What hostas hate is their roots being disturbed by repotting or in your case when you plant in the ground.

Ok so they’ve arrived! 10 dehydrated hairy octopi a bit like tiny asparagus crowns. I’ve separated them out and put them in a Tupperware between sheets of damp kitchen roll to try and rehydrate them a bit before I pot them up? A couple have fresh shoots...
