Crocus deals?

Afternoon all,

Does anyone know of any good deals on crocus bulbs at the moment? I'd be looking for about 100 I think.

Price will vary with type of crocus but as an example j p Parker’s are selling 75 giant yellow crocus for £7.98 and 40 free mixed daffodils with every order. Of course there will some postage to add on.

You can get 100 bulbs of crocus from about £4.50 from J Parkers Wholesale. I've just bought about 240 bulbs for £45 from them and about £18 in plants!

Do different colour crocuses flower at different times?

I've got about ¼ of the 100 I planted flowering, but every one is yellow.

They can do. I find the yellow ones start first, then the paler yellow, white, then purple. But usually within a week or two of each other, so all the colours are eventually out together.

It also depends whether they are the smaller flowered species crocus or the bigger flowered ones, which come up later.

Yellow ones don't thrive here - the birds eat them. All mine are purple or mauve now.

How do the others propagate then? Bulb division?

Yep, bulb division. I find that the Botanical ones multiply the best, that’s the small flowered ones.

I've got a couple of purple ones showing through now.
