Woody Lavender

Hi,
How do I prevent my lavender becoming woody? I've had no success with the plants that I've frown from plug plants, they always seem to go woody with sparse sprigs of leaves.

The only to prevent the plants from going woody is to prune really hard when the bush is finished flowering. Good Luck.

If the plant is small you can lift it and place it in a pot. Fill up to the green tips of growth above the woody bits and water in. After about 6-8 weeks all the woody bits bellow the green shoots will have rooted. You can then take it out of the pot and cut off all the new plants that have rooted. This builds up your stock of lavender plants. After the new shorter plants have flowered you can then do a Bramble has said.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to plant over the woody bits, root and replant then cut back once the flowers are over. Sounds like a plan and a good one at that!
