Lily baby bulbs

Hi, looking for advice please

I bought Asiatic lily bulbs from Poundland last year. They have died back and when I lifted the bulbs just now to detach the stem I saw there were little baby bulbs.

Should I detach the baby bulbs and plant on? I'm assuming they won't flower next year.

When I removed the flower stems I had to break them and I was surprised they didn't snap very easily. Am I meant to lift them and put into fresh compost for next year? And do I have to trim the roots?

Hi Kitty.
Yes, you can plant the baby bulbild. They wont flower for a few years.
I dont lift my bulbs at all.
I have mine growing in containers and just lay the pots on their sides to save them from rotting from the wet.
Irepot them every 3 years and that seems to suit them.
Someone may be able to give you some more advice.

Mine are in pots too so good to know you don't repot every year. Saves the effort!

I prefer Oriental lilies as they are scented. I bring pots indoors when in flower. Better than any plug in air freshener.

I water mine with acid fertiliser as ericaceous compost recommended for planting.

Anyone grown tree lilies. Do they live up to the catalogue puff? I'm a bit cynical what with those photoshopped blue roses!

As bramble says they can be planted seperatly if you do I would suggest 5hat you plant them in 4 inch pots and leave them for a year or two, I grow both in the ground and in pots and just leave the bulbils to grow, and I have grown tree lilies and the ones I had grew about 6ft. and had a flower head with about 12 flowers as I changed my garden last year every thing I dug out was shredded and they possibly went that way or were covered buy several layers of cardboard and several inches of soil, I would suggest that if you think your soil needs acidic watering you collect all the dregs from your tea pot and water your plants with that, or try a spot of vinegar in the water when watering, remember just a couple of drops from a vinegar bottle
