Underplanting cordyline

Hello.

I find myself in unfamiliar territory.

I have one of these copper planters which has become surplus to requirements. So I thought I'd put a nice red cordyline in it and stick it out the front somewhere. It should be too awkward to nick, all being well.

I found a small cordyline today in Wilko's for a fiver, which I thought was a good deal. But it'll be a bit lost all by itself in that great big pot. I am looking for suggestions for pretty things to plant round the cordyline which will compliment both it and the copper pot.

Look forward to hearing some ideas.

I love ivy in pots I have plenty in my front garden if you want me to send you some cuttings! If it's shaded, I think creeping jenny would compliment the colours very nicely, especially the golden version

Did you have anything particular in mind? I'm also looking for something trailing to go in my stump by the new pond, but something flowery that will hide a bit of the pond liner.
