It could be yours are in a shadier area, these have done well this year in this sunnier bed,I don’t usually put bird seed in sunny areas,it’s nice feeding the birds & getting flowers by magic
My sunflowers have become sacrificial lambs to the snails and slugs(along with quite a lot of strawberries), my grand children are doing well with theirs though.
I need to get out in to the garden with the camera. I have 2 of my Solars out with their main flower heads expecting another 4-5 smaller flowers on each one.
The titans are obviously on the wrong side of the garden as they get less sun and are still only 4' with no sign of flowering. No prizes for the tallest for me. sigh.
Well the Solars have hit 6'. here is a pic of the (other) 3 sisters. around their feet I am growing dwarf Nasturtiums and flagolet type beans
I might not win tallest, biggest flower, most unusual colour... but they certainly make me smile. there are around 4-6 smaller buds on each one. I cannot wait until they all open.
I hope the flower will face you bario, that’s lovely & massive My birdseed sunflowers are flowering now,one has three heads, they’re all facing different ways like they’re watching each other’s backs -
Late entry. The forecast is for strong winds so I expect most of this lot will be adding to the compost heap over the next few days. They're all self-set and the big fella comes in at bang on ten feet (measuring vertically rather than at an angle)
