Does anyone no the ID of my Fruit tree.

I was doing some work on my fruit trees removing weeds, topping up soil etc. I removed the plant ID tags but a few got mixed up. I was going to remove all the fruit on the tree as the fruit tree is not very big and wait till next year. But I thought I would leave a few on just to see what fruit it was.
(Can anyone ID my fruit tree)

Well its a plum (no surprise there) - further identification will have to wait until the fruit ripens :-)

Thank you very much I am new to growing fruit trees. The only one I have had that has beard fruit so far is my fig trees. So now I have plums happy days is it ok to let it fruit or wait till next year? I’m looking at the size of the tree.

You're very welcome - one or two fruit should be no problem. Get some manure for a mulch if you can - plums like to be fed :-)

The plum tree could do with being put in a larger pot. Should I wait till it has finished fruiting? I don’t want to put any stress on the tree now. Im going to try to get manure to go on all my fruit trees.



I checked some of my other fruit trees and found this one is fruiting as well. I bought it as a pear tree it still has the ID tag.

To me the fruits on both trees look the same but as I said before I’m new to growing fruit trees so could be wrong.

You're quite right - the tag is wrong - that one is a plum too - if you can plant your trees in the ground rather than pots that would be best.

Looks a bit like 2 types of leaf though- one longer and narrower than the other. The long one could be the pear, the other the plum - maybe.
I have a pear with shoots coming from below the graft (probably quince - and I'm leaving it to see what happens).
Anyway, my question is, is there growth below the graft?

that one is a plum too - if you can plant your trees in the ground rather than pots that would be best.

Thank you I have never grown fruit trees in pots and wanted to try it to see if it was possible. I may put them in the ground at a later date. I will leave a few fruits on and see what I get.

I thought that, the longer leaf could be a pear, looks like my pear
