Will 'climbing nasturtium' plants climb up a wall

My daughter wants me to put some flowers in her front garden, next to the house

She wants some climbing nasturtiums, but was wondering whether she'll need stakes for them (which she isn't too keen on having) or will they climb up the wall

Most "climbers" need some sort of support - except ivy!

Hi Willibee. I wouldn't have thought Nasturtiums were a true climber, more a scrambler over the ground.
Perhaps there is other climbers that would be easier.

On a wall a bit of netting is probably easiest to give the plants something to hang on to - nasturtiums are more scramblers than climbers anyway - they'll find their own way down things OK but going up someone is probably going to have to give them the odd bit of direction by pushing the leading shoot to be where it is wanted.

A bit of trellis will help. Just tie some bits of canes together in a noughts and crosses shape and Bob's your uncle. They'll also trail over the edge of the pot. Very pretty.
