  • Pulsatilla vulgaris going downhill

Well no surprises here as another plant goes downhill after having for a few years. Kept in a pot which didn’t do too well and planted in soul in full sun as the label states. Leaves going then and wispy and crown looks dry despite it getting the same watering as other plants.

And of course this site is doing its annoying thing of not letting me post images from my ipad despite it accepting it in the past so will have to add one from my camera at a later date. What on earth is wrong with this website that it cant even take a basic jpeg from an ipad without “upload failed” ?

We got there in the end though

I've lost a couple of these too over the years - bit of a miffy sort of thing if it doesn't get the exact conditions it prefers I reckon.

If it says that the upload failed, it's because the picture is too large in file size. There's apps you can get for your ipad to reduce them in size.

The plants label says it is hardy.

Yep - plant labels are a bit like estate agents description of properties - they aren't allowed to lie, but get along by stretching the truth - I'm no expert on this plant but if I had to guess I'd say it needs to be really dry round the roots in the Winter to survive outside - if I was having another go (which I won't) I'd create a raised bed with at least 50% sand/gravel to plant them in.

Lots of plants out there - my take is that finding plants which are easy to grow in the conditions you have is the least work approach - though I'm prepared to make an exception for something like blueberries and try to grow them by altering the bed/container.

If you want suggestions for something-else, then happy to try depending on what conditions you have.

Anemone Pulsatilla is a fairly short lived plant. I have have several and after a few years of doing well they are now fading. Could be just old age.
