Geum Query

Been looking for something to grow by my study window, and some geum Mrs Bradshaw plugs I put in 2 years ago just started flowering beautifully, peeking their heads up past my window!

I would like to plant more, but wonder how easy they are to grow from seed, or if it's better to just get more plug plants.

I've grown them from home saved seed - don't remember it as being particularly difficult.

I don't remember them being difficult but the germination rate was pants.

Thank you for these. I assume to split them, you carefully lift the plants. I will look it up online as I know there will be a best time to do it. I am still new at this sort of thing....

Im always splitting mine, they easily break into separate plants same with geraniums. Pot on and theyl be fine.

Splitting things is easy.....I never worry too much about waiting until the 'right' time according to the books

If I need to move a plant or just split it up I'll dig it up with a spade or fork (or trowel if it's not huge) and either put a spade through the centre to cut it in half (or with smaller plants tease them in half with my hands) then just replant! Water in well and make sure it doesn't dry out for a few weeks (but not permanently soggy else it'll rot away ) and you shouldn't have any problems. Plants are pretty tough
