    Obviously of pea family - bright yellow, 10 inches tall and vetch like.

    I would call it a wild flower but to you it maybe a weed.

      So if its a pea family (and certainly looks it) it's going to be able to fix nitrogen from the air which should come in handy. If it's not too invasive or if it's particularly easy to pull out and control I'd be inclined to leave it as in my opinion it's not unattractive and probably quite useful.

            And you only get the benefit of extra nitrogen if you compost/mulch with it before it sets seed.

                  It's meadow vetchling (Lathyrus pratensis). It's a wild flower in the same genus as sweet pea.
