Best Plants in Garden for Pet Rabbit

My friend has a new home, it’s their first. I am going to help them out as they have some raised beds and other areas in a small garden but not many plants. I will be passing some of mine on etc.

Thing is, she has a pet rabbit and she is worried that any plants might be poisonous if the Rabbit ate them and also that she would eat them even if safe so there would be nothing left.

Does anyone recommend any plants/flowers that would be both safe and also worth planting that they wouldn’t get devoured.

I think a good supply of mixed lettuces specifically for the rabbit would be good so that it wouldn’t eat the cabbage, spinnage, collies, sprouts etc.

So it's a completely free-ranging rabbit and will have access to the entire garden?

If so, we once looked after one for a bit. It was dumped on a vacant plot next to our garden by persons unknown before they went away on holiday. It made its way over to us and we used to feed it bits and bobs from the kitchen. Plus it had plenty of dry wild grass to go at. It didn't eat any of the flowering plants we had or our strawberries. So maybe if they're pets, they're quite cautious naturally about food.

This is a cautionary tale, however. Cecil, as we named him (or her), was only around for a few weeks. I don't know if he got abducted by one of the many local kids that were fascinated by him (our place was like a zoo for kids, as we had so many abandoned animals just before the August holidays) or whether he was taken by next door's dog (which I suspect).

Yes it’s free ranging but not 24hrs a day.

If a free range rabbit behaves like a free range chicken ,the plants and the pets need to be separated - or you just garden for the rabbit and don't worry about growing anything precious.

Chickens either eat them, flatten them or dig them up.
