im dog/house sitting for someone and the day after they left a delivery from t&m arrived. the first part is delphinium plants and thats fine but the second part was a bare root tree peoni and i just dont know what to do with it. i sat the roots in water for half an hour when it first arrived and iv been making sure its not drying out but they are away for another 10 days so iv got to do somethign with it! just dont know what! help! the instructions that came with it are for perminant planting which is obviously not what i want to do because i wouldnt know where to put it.

If you have a large pot or bucket and a bit of soil just stick it in that and put in a sheltered spot or shed - should make sure it keeps okay and easy for them to plant where they want it afterwards

Or if they have spare soil (i.e. a bit of dug-over ground) heel it in for a few days. You are doing the right things making sure it's ad a drink but you don't want to drown it. Putting it in some soil, in the ground or a pot, will keep it moist but not soaking.

Yes, heeling in will keep it in decent condition for the length of time you need to.
