I suggest when we change the clocks again, or will the weather be too rough by then..?

hmmmm growing from bird seed, last year i left a bag of bird seed out * i got side tracked and forgot * in the morning it had been dragged up the garden, bag emtpied, in my vain attempt to clear up the mess i of course could not pick up every seed, in the end i had 2 plants growing rather nicely in my veg patch, got some raised eyebrows at the plant growing in front of the sunflower, but no boys in blue knocked one my door would of been fun though, so needless to say bird seed no longer in plastic bag just a tin wont be making the same mistake again, im up for the sunflower challenge though

Oo, count me in- just got a load o' free horse manure, that should help! Already have several (free) packet seedlings on the go- can't see them doing too well as they've already got some kind of infestation in the leaves- larvae of some kind I think?
                    Good luck all!

i have a tub full of various sunflower seeds, i grew one in the front garden which got 12 feet tall... i came home one day and someone cut of all the heads and stole them lol, i guess they must have really liked them.. all they had to do is knock on my door and just ask for them it would have been my pleasure to give them away for free,,

I'm about the same as you pw. I've risked placing mine outside the rabbit perimeter fence, although they are protected by wire mash and surrounded by slug pellets.

i have to say mine are growing but looking pretty pathetic compared to PW & Wayne's, I'd say mine were about 4" high - will persevere though!
