  • Sweet Peas

Is it too late to sow sweet peas? I'd forgotten to order the seeds, so I didn't have the usual reminder when rummaging through the seed box, but I could pick a packet up from the GC on Monday if there's still time.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Don't think I did mine till April/May last yr.....and still haven't done them for this year yet. Just means when everyone elses have finished mine are still going strong till the frosts!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Sweetpeas can be sown in the spring, I always forget to sow in the Autumn.

I have sown mine and will plant out in May, spring sown sweetpeas just flower alittle later. I transferred mine to the coldframe yesterday in a rose bush container to allow the roots to get away.

Add plenty of compost and newspaper to the hole or trench when you plant, this helps to retain moisture and gets them off to a flying start.

Sweet peas can be sown any time up to April or May. I got organised and sowed mine in autumn last year. Planted out into the border, but I have a feeling I might as well have waited and sown in spring.
