  • Cannas from seed?

    Has anyone had success in cultivating canna from seed? I saved some last year - looked like dark brown peas. They've been in compost for a couple of weeks near the boiler, but I can't see anything yet.

    I didnt think you oculd grow them from seed, thought they were a corm? Well you learn something everyday, although flowering plants is not my stuff lol;
    Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

      Don't know about cannas but I've grown some eucomis from seed sucessfully and they are now big fat bulbs which flower quite happily. Took about 6 years for them to flower though but the wait was worth it for that smug feeling of triumph! Give it a go, see what happens.

      Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

      Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

        I have had them gtrow but they really like a bit of bottom heat, take quite a while to germinate as well as the seed coating is very hard Ginny
