Candelarbra Primulas

I'm live quite close to RHS Harlow Carr and just love their Candelabra Primulas in spring.

Local garden centres (including the one at HC) sell mature plants for a pricy £6+ Therefore HC style drifts would cost hundreds

The obvious solution would be GYO, but every year they fail early on. Either don't germinate or snuff it on transplanting.

Ideas please ?

EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY collect your seed chuck it in a small tray of compost and leave outside if it gets dry water the tray its that simple

Ahhh......Primula Denticulata are usually an easy plant to cultivate from what I can remember? Do need to be kept moist though!

If I remember rightly (and I might not - old age you know!) a lot of the primula family like to be sown when the seed is fresh. You really need to visit the gardens in late spring when they are going to seed and try to 'find' a few seedheads - don't tell 'em I sent you!
