  • carnations and cosmos

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this thread, as i have just joined today. It is the first time i have grown any thing from seed, but what i am growing are all doing well, but can anyone give me some advice on carnations and cosmos, my carnations have all been potted on and are about 4" tall with about 4 sets of leaves, do i need to nip the tops of these or just leave them?
my cosmos are growing very tall but some of them are starting to flop, do i need to pot these on into bigger pots they are in 3" pots at the mo,i seem to have done well with germinating seeds but after that this is when i get stuck, can any one help me with this please. thank you

    Hi FP07,

Welcome to the Vine. Your Carnations - I would nip out the top it will make them bush out but might make them flower a bit later.

Your Cosmos, which one is it? if it's the dwarf one they should be ok in 3" pots just give them a weak feed (1/2 strength tomato feed is fine about every 2 weeks) if they've been in the pots for more then 3 weeks or so. If they are bigger variety they may need moving on to a bigger pot.

It could be that they are a bit too close together making them draw and get week so it may pay you to space them out a bit as well.
