Hi there, I'm a novice and this is my first year of sowing and growing - flowers, lawn, and potatoes in pots. I would really like some boston ivy to cover the fence (the type which goes red in autumn) but don't know what time of year to buy it and plant it. I don't know how many 'pieces' I would need to grow up the fence either - its about 35 feet long and 6 feet high. Can anyone tell me if this is the right time to plant and how many sprigs I would need. I am asuming I will be able to buy it in my local garden centre - though I am loathe to go there as I can't ever leave without spending £50, even if I only want ONE thing! Is it possible to propogate if I were be lucky enough to have some given to me?
