  • taking cuttings from lilac

Hi there is a patch of wasteland next to our house. It has a lilac tree/bush on that's about 6 feet high so quite a young plant.

I would love to either dig it up and replant in my garden - is it too big for this?

Ot take some cuttings. I have never taken any and have no idea where to start - any help gratefully received.

    Thanks, janeyo

Or is it better to get some seed when it finishes flowering?

Hardwood cuttings at the end of the year is the best plan. Take loads and you should end up with more than you need

Lilac trees are propagated from semi-ripe cuttings taken in mid-August - there is a medium chance of success. Good luck.
