  • rubbish with flowers

i'm fairly successful with my veg but i'm really rubbish with flowers, can anyone give me ideas of really really easy flowers to grow. i'm so bad that even pre-grown plants don't last. i've got a feeling i fail because i neglect the plants in favour of my veg so i need things that don't require a lot of attention. please help

French Marigolds are easy but just dead head them from time to time, Bussy Lizzies are good for shade and need no attention.

Stick in some very ordinary perennials and pick bunches of then, no need to dead head them then.

A lot of the reason that flower plants don't last is that they are allowed to produce seed and then they stop flowering.

Calendula or pot marigolds are really easy and give a nice splash of colour. Edible too.
Pick the flowers to garnish salads.

Cosmos, poppies, flax; my 3 faves. just sprinkle onto ground in the spring and they self seed forever.

Can't go wrong with nasturtiums in my opinion. I'd also echo Calendulas for a lovely bright and carefree display.

I often sow annuals where i have space in my veggie plot , There are quite a few that are easy peasy and reliable like Californian and Shirley poppies are Limanthus (poached egg plant really good for hoverflies) and yep i love nasturtiums especially Alaskan ones as they are a bit more compact than big ones . All of these will self seed if you let them. Oh and nearly forgot love in a mist !
