  • Bulb question........

I've had a wonderful show from my bulbs in pots, and have now let the bulbs die down.
Question is: do I have to store them until autumn, or can I plant them out now into my garden?
    Many thanks!

I don't know what the right answer is, but I've planted mine out. My pots were on their second year (mainly because I was lazy last year and just stuck them in a corner out of sight once the spring flowers were gone). I dug holes big enough to take the entire pot contents and planted everything as one mass. Minus the pot!

Like Heebejeebie I leave mind in the pots for at least two years. I have a couple of really large pots containing spring bulbs, and they've been in those for 3 years now. Feed when the flowers have finished and put a bit of summer bedding on top. Small pots I usually put the entire contents into the border when the flowers have finished - that way they seem to establish better. Never lift and store my bulbs - lost too many doing it that way.

Many thanks! I've actually put the bulbs temporarily into carrier bags, will pop them into the "rockery"/bulb bit in the front garden asap. Bernie
