When we bought our bleeding heart bush, the bloke at the garden centre said it was posible to get it to flower twice in a season by cutting it back after the first flowering...does anyone know if this is right and how to cut it back?

Hi .
You need to be a bit brutal and cut off flowering stem as soon as flowers start to show signs of fading as close to bottom of flowering spike . Then give it a water and feed if you want to be really nice and it should flower again although they prob wont be as big. All flowers are driven by their urge to set seed so if you stop them doing that they will try again. good luck

Mine is flowering again now im amazed that it comes up every year and i dont protect it.
its in a pot against the back wall and our garden is fenced all the way round so is quite sheltered.
My husband bought it for me about 3 years ago for valentines day.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache
