lupins

i have recently purchased a couple of packets of tuttie fruttie lupin seeds and was wondering whether i can grow them now the packet does not specify growing times/months.

any help much appreciated,

I guess at yes, you can sow them now. They won't flower this year and depending on how big they get before winter they might need a bit more TLC than earlier sown ones. Also beware the slugs - they love a lupin!

You can sow your lupins now Matt and plant them out to flower next year.

I have stopped growing lupins because of this pest - Royal Horticultural Society - Gardening Advice: Lupin Aphid - as I grow organically and , even although I always have ladybugs, hoverflies, lacewings and many birds in the garden, this revolting creature must taste as disgusting as it looks. I did squash them and tried organic methods of control, but now don't think it is worth the hassle. This is like a number of American imports that should have stayed on the other side of the pond.
