    Bougainvillea - flowers dropping off

I grow Bougainvillea and a number of oleanders that live in pots. Both are flowering well at the moment. THe oleanders get tucked up in my cold greenhouse over the winter whilst the Bougainvillea comes into the house. The key though is the keep them dryish as it is the wet more than the cold that finishes them off. My biggest oleander stays in a pot up against the south side of my house all year around and flourishes. I have had it for some years now.
    Hello Shushkin
I have a Bougainvillea too that has just started to loose its flowers a few weeks ago. I'm quiet annoyed really - this beautiful plant caught my attention, several people were showing an interest. It cost £35, was about 4ft and growing on fanned trellis. It didn't occur to me that it was an indoor plant though, nothing was written on it except it's name and the shop assistant didn't mention anything about a suitable location only the size itwould grow so I planted it in the garden in full sun with the hope that it would grow up a fence.

Now all the flowers are falling off and it just seems a waste of £35. It was flowering well to begin with and was even growing with new shoots. The leaves are all fine, still green and healthy, its just the flowers which are turning paper like and falling off. Unfortunately i don't have a conservatory or a green house so I have no choice but to leave it where it is and hope that the winter is mild and we don't have any frosts.

I'm curious though about your oleanders. what are they and what do they look like. Can they stay outside through the winter or do you have to bring that in as well. Really I want something that is evergreen, will grow against a fence and hopefully cover it. something that looks beautiful in the summer, maybe even has a berry or a bit of colour other than its green leaf in the winter but something that isn't too slow to grow. I already have a jasmine there in the other corner, thats growing really well, unfortunately its high up, and hasn't covered the fence below, so I'm looking for something that can grow upwards in the opposite corner but will grow across to fill the space the jasmine has left uncovered. You don't have any ideas do you? Thanks so much.
