  • Pepping up the windowboxes

I'm more into my veg than flowers but I did have some lovely window boxes and hanging baskets, unfortunately the last 2 weeks of cold and non stop rain has drained all the life out of them and they've all but had it. What's available in the garden centres that I could plant out now to pep them up again.

No idea- not been in a garden centre for weeks!!!

...but get yr butt down to one asap....what an excuse for a good wander around!!!!!!! ( and buying those ever-so-much-needed things you didn't realise you needed !!!!)

Don't forget to treat yourself to a few packets of seeds for next year too...it's NEVER too early to start getting organised

I bet the Xmas decorations will be out soon...best get a move on

Oh Nicos, did you have to mention the C(X) word?!? That really annoys me about garden centres. Valuable space being taken over by over-priced tat!

I've got the same problem, Amanda. Even the geraniums have started to give up, now. I was thinking about getting some more pansies, as they seem to fare better in window boxes. What about some alpines? Small, weather resistant flowers in all different colours!

my window boxes and hanging baskets seem to be giving up too, i trimmed them back yesterday in the hope they might put some more growth on, they are normally still going for months yet ..... but i got a load of seeds 75% off in wilkies, and 60% off in poundstretchers the other day, so theres only a few things i need for next year ....... i have 6 varieties of leeks for next year ..... cos this years have been rubbish, i'm determined to get leeks next year ...... and i'm not even thinking about the C word .... well not till the beginning of september when the shops start getting their decorations in.

Different types of ivy would see you through the winter.
            There's an idea!!
