  • You are nothing more than an Ugly Old Cesspit !!

And here's a pic to prove it

    Question is...

I want to plant something bushy and preferably evergreen around it that will not have invasive water seeking roots and is sheep proof.

The soil is sandy loam over clay an gets quite wet in winter.

The only thing I can think of is Gorse but I don't know if the conditions are right (or even if it's sheep proof, they'll have a nibble at 'owt round here ).

    Any ideas ?

If it is a cess-pit 'in use' it must be accessible to the emptiers.Gorse is probably worth a try. I'm not at all sure that there is ANYTHING a sheep won't eat (even if poisonous) unless it is VERY prickly (holly????) and not always then.
I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about the poisonous plants which sheep 'don't eat because of their instincts', beccause sheep can develop a liking for ragwort, which is a nasty slow poison to any grazing animal. I have also encountered cases of goats eating rhododendron (I did manage to save them, but they were definitely quite ill) and goats have if anything even more reliable instincts than sheep.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Yep sheep will definitely eat ragwort. Very dim creatures on the whole

          Do sheep eat heathers?

          Just an idea...
