hi miss C - funnily this year my snakes' head spread and I was really surprised! I had one last year (not planted by me) and two this year - but many feet apart! It seems to me they do their own thing, but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon - I'd be interested to find out how they spread too!
"A cat sees no good reason why it should obey another animal, even if it does stand on two legs."
They produce seed heads, would imagine that's how they spread. They may do better if you collect the seeds and grow them on rather than letting them 'disappear' into the garden.
i know. i was trying to be money saving (tight lol) and i also didn't really know how they got more so interesting to know. I didn't know that dogs end up facing each when they mate for example and i just let them carry on the other day. Everyone on the farm found it hysterical
I have dyslexia so please excuse my spelling and grammar
