  • Bought a tulip bulb for ds to grow and have no instructions!

Impulse buy this morning at garden centre - they were just loose and I didn't think to look for instructions.

Am I right in thinking that if I plant this early - the bulb should be planted fairly deep?

i found this about tulips ...plant 8 inches deep and wait, basically, but this is quite interesting.

My basic rule is to cover the bulb (almost any bulb) with twice it's depth of soil, ie if the bulb is an inch big, put it in a hole with 2 inches of soil on top of it.

I usually plant daffodils early - September for instance - but I would leave a tulip until much later - November.

I have done this for years but I'm so old I can't remember why!

you plant tulips later - November like Flummery says - to avoid tulip fire.

Planted mine in January last winter but really wouldn't recomend it!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
