  • perennial sweet peas

I planted perennial sweet peas around March this year. They are growing well. Do they flower in the second year like many perennials as they havent flowered this year ? Any one know please.

I remember growing these many years ago. I assume they are perhaps also known as 'everlasting' s/peas?

The ones I grew were rather like the model t ford car - all light purple/pink colour.

They grow wild on the Tye which is a strip of green land just opposite where I live. They come up year after year and you might imagine that they are not cultivated in any way except by possible wild animal intervention or perhaps grazing by the cattle up there. Keep meaning to get some seed pods again and try and develop a small patch in my garden. Obviously if you're growing at home they will need some trimming as they tend to rather take over wherever they're allowed to grow!

Mine have flowered a little bit this year (after an April (ish) sowing) but according to my mum, they take a year or two to build up their strength and get going properly.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks both. Will watch & wait in that case & let them gather their strength.
