I was shown to put a couple of good handfuls of grit in the bottom of the hole when you plant them. Did that to mine several years ago now and they're still perfectly happy. You can mix some compost with the soil where you're going to plant them to improve the soil too.Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

Sorry blue, wasn't very specific was I?!! Put the grit in the bottom of the hole, sit the bulbs on it and then if you need to improve your soil you can add some compost (or even some more grit) to the soil you use to fill the hole in.Life is too short for drama & petty things!

They'll come OK for a couple of years even in quite heavy soil but it's worth doing the grit things as explained above will mean the bulbs will last a heck of a lot longer.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
