  • Green flower i.d. please?

I saw some beautiful green flowers earlier and would love to know what they are, so that I can grow my own.

They were 'pom pom' shape, similar petals to a corn flower (almost fern like, really) but with no apparant centre, about 5cm across.

    Any ideas?
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

    A chrysanthemum?

I agree, there is a small pom-pom chrysanth doing the rounds in supermarket bouquets just now. With this sort of thing though, the old cynic in me wonders if they are a white one which has been dyed?

I did wonder about chyrsanths but the petals didn't look right (although it may be a variation). Def not the same as the pic in the link.

I hadn't thought they might be dyed... hmmm!!!

I might buy some and take a pic (although then I'll resent paying £2.50 for a tiny bunch of flowers that have probably travelled further this year than I have ).

don't buy them, just take a photo. You can be discreet or just pretend to be deranged .. you'll get away with it.

I know this isn't a pompom, but it's such a lovely unusual colour that I wanted you to see it. Stunning in front of a black elder

I've had Mollucella laevis this year - called Bells of Ireland (I'm more sure of the latter spelling than the former!) that's a strange but unusually attractive (unless you don't like it!) green flower.

I took Two_Sheds advice and sneaked a picture without buying

I love the Nicotiana, fairly sure I have some seeds for those and lime green zinnias too.

What shop was it in Seahorse? It'll drive me mad if I can't work out what it is!

Vicky, local florist, not a chain or anything.

If all else fails, I'll have to go in and ask them (and buy the flowers!). It'll drive me mad to not know too

Well, it looks to me like a Sweet William that hasn't opened its flowers yet.

I can't find a green example but I think it might be an ageratum?
