  • Bulbs at Woolworths

Our local Woolworths has all it's bulbs reduced at the moment. Hopefully it'll be the same around the country:

Mixed pack of 40 bulbs - 20 Iris (Purple Sensation) and 20 Tulips (Dasystemon Tarda) for £1.50
    15 Snowdrops £1.50
    15 Fritillaria £1.50
A multi pack of 20 Allium Moly, 20 Anemone de Caen and 20 Chionodoxa for 60p
Tulips (eg Queen of the Night, and a really pretty frilly white one) £1.50
    Daffodils/Narcissi (eg Minnow, Tete a Tete) £1.50
And other things I've forgotten now, but all at £1.50

BE VERY CAREFUL with Woolies bulbs ... they are left to dry out on the shelf for months. I've had too many "no grows" and won't be bothering them again

I'll let you know - I did have it in mind, but I figured at 60 bulbs for 60p I could afford some 'no grows'! I've also paid a lot more than that for bulbs and still had failures, so I planned never to pay too much for bulbs again!

I haven't had any problems with Woolies bulbs, but I do open the packs to check the condition of the bulbs/plants. Poundland is my problem - their plants grow and grow well, but they never seem to be exactly what they say on the pack (e.g. blackcurrants turned out to be redcurrants, everything else seems to be pink regardless of what it says on the pack - Oh I tell a lie, the white anemones were white and the white freesias were cream - nearly white)
