How can something so nice be such a nuisance, I, thought I had removed most of these last year my compost bin was quite full with them before I put them through the shredder and yet the garden is swamped by them again guess what will make up a lot of my compost at the end of the year

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Cant you share them with friends, family, neighbours...freebies outside your driveway perhaps?
I've tried to grow them for years here but it's just too dry ..or the darned voles gobble them up

Persistent little blighters aren't they, SWMBO doesn't like them? so for years I have tried and failed to remove them, pity we can't eat them, then they would no doubt fail !!Comment

I think as they are named after OHs wee brother they grow just to annoy me

They do self seed. Shredder will kill corms but not seed.
How do you get them to stay upright? Mine keel over.

There is no support used nor compost added to the flower garden but I do add seaweed which might make them a bit stronger and they are beginning to fall over now, but we have had torrential rain and high winds recently
