I've grown wallflowers from seed this year and they are looking really good. I remembered to pinch them out and so they are nice bushy plants BUT they are really tall already.........about 12 to 18 inches. Do I cut them down a bit or leave well alone? If I cut do I need to do it now or wait until spring? I think I need to grow the dwarf ones next time.
    Many thanks

You don't need to cut them back, but they will look better for it in the spring if you do. wallflowers tend to flop over once they get tall, then turn their ends up and carry on growing. Nothing wrong with that, I leave mine just so to get on with it. But if you want neat, compact bushy plants, trim them back to about 6 inches now while it's still mild. You can probably get the ends you trim off to grow as cuttings with a bit of care and shelter too.

    Endless wonder.
