  • Weed or flower?

At first I thought primrose/primula but maybe weed? Leaves appear to be different.

If the backs of the leaves are spikey then it's a teasel.

I suspect it may actually be teasel or something closely related, not primula, although it's a little hard to tell from the picture.

Check the backs of the leaves, as suggested above. Another conclusive test is to break half a leaf off. Primula leaves are soft, almost slightly limp. If it's not a primula then the leaves with likely have a more lettuce-like texture, and will bleed slightly milky sap from the midrib.

I've got teasels popping up all over my garden so I agree with Nickdub.

We get teasels on our plots. The bees like them.

That's why my neighbour planted them.

The only teasels I dig up are those that pop up in my veg beds they get re-planted either behind the shed or next to the walls.

Will I get a teasel this yr?

I had to take hundreds of seedlings out as last years plant was close to a vehicle track and it got hit when the seeds were ripe.
They went all over the place.
I have left three or four in for the birds and bees.
The gold finches prefer the feeder as it is under the bows of a hawthorn bush as is safer due to local sparrowhawks.

They are biennials, so I'd say next year,
