  • Black Spot

Hi, I need advice on my climbing rose over an archway. Don’t know it’s name. This year it has developed severe black spot and the leaves are dropping everywhere. It is a very large arch so spraying does not seem to be a viable option. Would it be a good idea to chop it right back to about three feet and spray it. It is half defoliatd with very few flowers. It is normally full of buds at this time. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Bernie, Thanks for the link. I’m going to bite the bullet and chop it right back. Nothing to lose. It’s going to be bare of leaves soon anyway.

Severe black spot is awful, so good luck.
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

Thank you Babru. Yes Nicos. Will have to hunt all the leaves down. The wind has blown them all over the place.
