Centaurea Montana starting to flower through the tulips. I know they can be a bit of a thug but will just manage them. Bought a centaurea silver feather last year, which I’m looking forward to seeing flower. Do love a cornflower.

My first ever ranunculus. Although a spectacular colour it has been quite a bit of mollycoddling to get to the flower bit. Out of 10 bulby things I have managed 2 flower spikes.

Peony in the garden. Don't know if the rhizome regenerates but it's been in the same place since we moved in 38 years ago.

looks beautiful. I bought a Shirley temple peony last year and been carefully looking after it. Just planted out in the front garden and doing well, but too wee to flower this year I reckon.

Tamarisk. First time it's really flowered.

It's on the end wall of the garden, which is 2m high and comprises randomly dumped granite bolders the size of fridges. Exposed to full force of wind.

Tamarisk has to be looked after for first few years in such difficult situations until its taproot finds water then boom - it's off.
