  • Geum 'Koi' going downhill

Aaaaand yet another recently bought nursery plant is heading for the grave, getting smaller and smaller. This Geum coccineum 'Koi' has been kept in a cold greenhouse over winter. The leaves are getting smaller (the other plant having died) so I have no idea yet again why plants do this for me, especially hardy geranium types. Click image for larger version

Obviously nobody knows. Since this photo it has pretty much died. I have just got to accept that pretty much any plant I buy is destined for failure, despite adhering to the label advice. The roots look pretty black and rubbery so I have re-potted in mole hill soil and some mycorrhizal Fungi in a last ditch effort.

Sorry to hear that marb. Let’s hope what you’ve done will revive it.

Let us know how it goes….

I think it has completely died. Another plant to add to the failure list. I think I will just not buy plants anymore and grow from seed as I have wasted ££££s. Geraniums are supposed to be hardy for goodness sake. How on earth has this happened ?
